Due to the State Health Protection Programm that has been implemented in the Republic of Tatarstan for the last several years, educational organizations as well as social service institutions across the republic are heavily pushing for more physical activity in physical education classes, after-school programs and community-based programs for children. This will also mean a greater push for the availability of adapted physical education services, which are so important for youth with disabilities.
According to Tatyana Ishmetyeva, psychologist of the Rehabilitation Center for Children with Disabilities in Bugulma municipal district, physical activity is much more lower for children and youth with disabilities compared to their peers without disabilities. The purpose of physical education is for students to learn, practice, and master skills that will allow them to be physically active for a lifetime.
