Governor of Saint Petersburg meets with residents of blockaded Leningrad living in Tatarstan

A meeting with residents of blockaded Leningrad living in Tatarstan with participation of the delegation from Saint Petersburg has been held today in shopping and entertainment centre Korston.

The Governor of Saint Petersburg that took part in the meeting greeted the participants and expressed his thanks to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan. He pointed out that Tatarstan authorities take much care of veterans of the Great Patriotic war and residents of blockaded Leningrad living in Tatarstan.

It ought to be noted that there are 216 citizens who have been awarded the ''Resident of Blockaded Leningrad'' badge living in Tatarstan and 69 of those who have been awarded Medal "For the Defense of Leningrad". Since 1991 a civil society organization “Residents of blockaded Leningrad” has been existed in Kazan. An average age of residents of blockaded Leningrad living in Tatarstan amounts to 82-83 years.
