Mendeleyevsk Social Service Centre the Coast of Hope became the winner of the Republican Contest Non-government Initiative – 2013 in the category Social adaptation of people with disabilities and their families including occupational therapy. Flour & Salt Club was awarded a grant.
The author of the idea of Flour & Salt Club was a specialist in social work of the Department of Social Assistants M.Aleksandrova. The project is focused on social and psychological rehabilitation of children with disabilities by means of introducing them to folk craft, specifically, clay and salt dough modeling. Children visiting the club will get the opportunity to take part in workshops, be taught clay and salt dough modeling, get knowledge about folk craft, prepare and participate in exhibitions.
In the judgement of the Center specialists, salt dough modeling is proved to be far and wide useful for child development, fostering fine motor skills, verbal abilities and brainpower.
