Deputy minister takes part in roundtable discussion

Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper editorial office held today a roundtable discussion on the issue “Life insurance for migrants: who has to pay?”. Elena Kibardina, acting Deputy Minister of Labour, Employment and Social protection was invited to take part in it.

The meeting with the representatives of Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social protection, Ministry of Public Health, insurance companies and Department of the Federal Migration Service for the Republic of Tatarstan was devoted to the draft bill of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of the Russian Federation that would oblige migrant workers or their employers to close agreements for voluntary medical insurance.

This bill is meant to make medical services available for the migrants. The participants of the meeting discussed as well the issue of migrants’ capability to pay for an expensive medical insurance.

It ought to be noted that nowadays alien visitors should not have compulsory health insurance if they did not conclude a labor agreement. An average cost of the insurance policy amounts to 3 000 – 7 000 rubles.
