Specialists in social work of the social shelter for minors in Naberezhnye Chelny give full attention to patriotic education of young children. Prior to the Great Victory Day social teacher of the shelter Elvira Gazizova gathered children together to discuss May 9 Victory Day celebrations in Russia.
At the lesson children were offered to share their knowledge and experience. On May 9 Victory Day many people attend a local military parades and watch the fireworks at night. All the veterans wear their medals as they head to the parade or an event organized by local veteran organizations. At home, families gather around a festive table to honor surviving witnesses of the Great Patriotic War and remember those who passed away. They may also watch a favorite Soviet film based on the events of those days. These films are repeated each year but the audience seems to never grow tired of them.
