Employment of women upbringing preschool-age children
Interdepartmental meeting devoted to issues of employment of women upbringing preschool-age children has been recently held within the walls of Almetyevsk Employment Centre with participation of specialists of the Healthcare Department and Territorial Social Security Office.
Minsagit Nasertdinov, head of Almetyevsk Employment Centre informed participants of the meeting about employment opportunities for mothers of infants and preschoolers, part-time work, professional education and social defense measures.
Healthcare Department specialist talked more specifically about negative aspects of maternal employment. Employment affects the mother's emotional state-sometimes providing satisfactions, sometimes role strain, and sometimes guilt-and this, in turn, influences the mother-child interaction. The different situational demands as well as the emotional state of the working mother affect child-rearing practices. The specialists added that working mothers are supposed to provide less adequate supervision.
