Internet Safety for Kids – Several useful tips for parents given in Bugulma

According to Olga Kolganova, psychologist of the Department for Social Assistance of Family and Childhood, the internet is a great way to stay up-to-date on the news, do research for school projects, and communicate with friends, but it can also be very dangerous.

At her lessons she warns parents about risks the Internet pose to their children, such as: inadvertent exposure to inappropriate images or content, solicitation by sexual predators in chat rooms, social networking sites and by email, online bullying or harassment, piracy of software, music or video, disclosure of personal information, spyware and viruses, excessive commercialism: advertising and product-related websites, illegal downloads, such as copyright-protected music files.
