How to Make Tatar Skullcap” master class was recently organized by Gulnara Salikhzyanova, social teacher of Arsk Rehabilitation Centre for Children with Disabilities. Tubeteika is one of the most popular and widely practiced national applied art forms of Tatarstan, worn in modern everyday life, as it was in the past.

At the master class the children learned that the skullcap is made with white embroidery with four arches which represent impenetrable gates that will keep all enemies at bay; the burning peppers protect against the evil eye; and the almonds or bodom are said to symbolize life and fertility.
