Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social protection of the Republic of Tatarstan announces the following.
In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Tatarstan 1448-XII of 19 February 1992 “About holidays and commemorative dates”, 30 August – The Day of the Republic of Tatarstan and Kurban Bayram is declared to be a non-working days (holidays) in the Republic of Tatarstan.
Eid al-Adha also called the "Sacrifice Feast", is the second of two Muslim holidays celebrated worldwide each year, and considered the holier of the two. It honors the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son, as an act of obedience to God's command. This year in accordance with the Decree of the President of Tatarstan №401 of 19 May 2017 “About the Eid al-Fitr and Kurban Bayram holiday dates”, 1 September 2017 was determined to be the beginning of Kurban Bayram celebrations.
Following Article 95 of the Labour Code of the Russian Federation, the length of the working day or shift directly preceding a public holiday shall be reduced by one hour. So that this year, 30 August and 1 September 2017 declared to be a non-working days (holidays), the length of the working day on 29 and 31 August are cut by one hour.
