Rehabilitation of children with autistic spectrum disorders in Naberezhnye Chelny

Another working seminar for specialists in social work of Social Assistance Departments and Complex Social Service Centres was recently organized by psychologists Guzel Salimanova and Natalya Tyuneva in cooperation with speech pathologist Gulnara Rasimbetova in the Rehabilitation Centre for Children with disabilities in Naberezhnye Chelny. The workshop was devoted to issues of rehabilitation of children with autistic spectrum disorders. According to specialists, autism and autism spectrum disorders are neurological conditions which affect the brain and its ability to function. A child affected by autism may experience limited motor function, as well as problems with speech and communication, concentration and behavior.

Participants of the workshop discussed methods and techniques of complex rehabilitation of children with ASD. According to specialists, results of early intervention in children with ASD indicated a substantial decline in autistic behavior such as considerable improvements on socialization, vocalization, self-steam behaviors, flexibility, sucking and assertiveness, there were improvement in speech and language indexes and subscales of language competency
