Ayrat Shafigullin takes part in Russian Innovation Weak in USA

Minister of Labour, Employment and Social protection played a working visit to Boston, USA on the official delegation of the Republic of Tatarstan headed by the President Rustam Minnikhanov. The purpose of the visit was to participate in the Russian Innovation Week (RIW) that was held from 17 to 20 September.

The agenda included visiting Massachusetts institute of technologies, participation in the meeting with the managers of innovative hi-tech companies and officials, excursion to UMass Lowell  Nanomanufacturing Centre.

This Centre was the project launched jointly by the teachers of wide range of subjects including engineering, healthcare, management and liberal arts that make researches, establish industrial copartnership and develop human resources for the purpose of manufacturing new products.

What’s more the Minister visited the Centre for the test trial of robotechnics of UMass Lowell University, Massachusetts Medical Centre of UMass Lowell University and Central Laboratory (LabCentral), met with high-level officials of The Government of the State Massachusetts and the Mayor of New York Michael Bloomberg who is famous for speeded up the recovering from the financial crisis of 2008 investing in the sphere of innovations.

The agenda of Russian Innovation Week included as well panel discussions “Government as a key stakeholder in developing regional innovation ecosystem: aims, advantages and problems” and “Russia. New horizons: creating opportunities for competition on the world market”.

Among the participants of the Russian Innovation Week (RIW) were state government bodies of the Russian Federation and the USA, big business managers, venture capital investors and entrepreneurs of area of high technologies, Anatoly Chubays, Viktor Vekselberg, the President of Skolkovo Fund, USA Ambassador to Russia Michel McFaul, Deputy Minister of Communications of the Russian Federation.

The event was organized by ОАО RBK, ОАО ROSNANO and Scolkovo Fund.

It ought to be remarked that the main aim of Russian Innovation Week was to demonstrate of the Russian innovation industry, assistance to Russian investors and venture funds, network with American partners, and to get access to the capital sources for Russian technology companies.
