«Strong In Spirit» wheelchair persons marathon to be held in Kazan

A wheelchair persons marathon for disabled veterans devoted to the 70th anniversary of the battle of Stalingrad will start at 9:00 a.m. on 29 August in Park Pobedy . The marathon will be hold all over the Volga Federal District.

The aim of the Marathon is to develop public-private partnership between Social Organization of Disabled Veterans of Afghanistan war with bodies of state power of a subject of the Russian Federation. The main questions of coordination are protection of the rights and legitimate interests of war veterans and their families, promotion of patriotism of young people and healthy lifestyle, rising the influence of disabled veteran organizations.

Within the frame of the Marathon some other events are planned to be hold: a meeting with the participation of Organization of Disabled Veterans, floral tribute, sport events (tournaments, workshops for handicapped people), performances of the sportsmen with disabilities and participants of Paradelphiyskiye Igry.

Countrywide the Marathon started on 25 August. The following cities to welcome the activists after Kazan are Nizhny Novgorod, Cheboksary, Yoshkar-Ola, Ulyanovsk, Samara, Saratov, Volgograd, Penza, Saransk, Ryazan.
