Another event for children – clients of the Social Assistance Centre for Family and Children was held on 15 June 2018. Accompanied by specialists in social work children visited local mosque.
The aim of the event that gathered 36 children from families at risk, multi-child and needy families was to get them acquainted with traditions and history of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.
The children learned that Eid al-Fitr is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. This religious Eid is the first and only day in the month of Shawwal during which Muslims are not permitted to fast. The holiday celebrates the conclusion of the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of Ramadan. The day of Eid, therefore, falls on the first day of the month of Shawwal.
