Students in Elabuga Teach Computer Literacy to Disabled Children

7 December 2011, Wednesday
The leaders of the volunteer movements "Gold youth" at the rehabilitation center for disabled children and teenagers  “Revival” help the children under care to learn computer literacy.
The lessons are held every week. Volunteers are the 1 and 2 years students of the Bugulma branch of the Kazan State Technological University. They work with the disabled children not only on the basis of the center, but also have in-home classes with the children under care.
The background for such lessons is the decision of the  volunteers to ruin the established public opinion that disabled people are   defective and unadapted to live in a modern society.
The employees of the center note that the students managed to find common language with pupils, have learned to create an atmosphere of kindness and respect at the lessons.
During the lessons the active leaders have taught the pupils and graduates of the center to print texts, to make tables and charts, to work in Internet. The received knowledge are useful and necessary for an adequate life in modern conditions.
Director of the center "Revival" Elena Starostina marks, that for the children under care it is important not only to obtain new skills, but also to associate, to  feel the attention to their special demands
