Elmira Zaripova, Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan yesterday took part in “Breaking News” TV-programme at Tatarstan – 24 TV-channel.
The TV-programme was devoted to problem of informal labour market. According to the Minister, there is no unique definition for informal employment, however, a generally accepted way to define it is by considering individuals (and their employers) who engage in productive activities that are not taxed or registered by the government.
The survey shows that the informal economy comprises more than half of the global labour force and more than 90% of Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) worldwide. Informality is an important characteristic of labour markets in the world with millions of economic units operating and hundreds of millions of workers pursuing their livelihoods in conditions of informality.
