Fosterlings of Nizhnekamsk Social Shelter study military history of Russia

4 December 2018, Tuesday

A video tour through the pages of Russian history was conducted in social shelter for minors in Nizhnekamsk municipal district within the frames of the Republican Programme on Patriotic Education of Children.

The theme of the event is “The Day of Military Glory of Russia. The victory of the Russian squadron under the command of PS Nakhimov”. Children learned that our country is a great maritime power: thirteen seas and three oceans are washing over 2/3 of its state border. For over 300 years, the navy, created at the behest of Emperor Peter I, has reliably stood guard over Russia's sea borders. At various periods of history, it had to participate in many wars at sea, counteracting the strongest naval powers of that times. A lot of heroic pages were written in the annals of the Russian fleet by Russian sailors. One of them is the victory of the Russian fleet under the command of Vice-Admiral P.S. Nakhimov in the Battle of Sinop with the Turkish squadron on December 1, 1853. Even the youngest pupils were interested to learn about this and how this battle was won.
