5 July 2018, Thursday

“Who is a doctor?” – the question was answered at professional orientation lesson for primary school pupils – fosterlings of the social shelter for minors that has been held today in Nizhnekamsk municipal district.

At the lesson the children were acquainted with professions of pediatrician, ophthalmologist, physician, dental practitioner. The lesson was held in form of socio-dramatic play. The goal of this activity is to give children the opportunity to learn about hospital tools and procedures as well as express any fears or misconceptions about the hospital.

According to Marina Nikolayeva, social teacher of the shelter, dramatic play is a form of symbolic play where a child pretends to take on a role of someone else, imitating actions and speech from earlier observed situations. When another person becomes involved in the play, it is called sociodramatic play. The elements of reality and make-believe are involved as children imitate real-life people and situations they have experienced, but because they are unable to imitate exactly what they have observed, make-believe enters their play.
