“Lest we forget” Campaign dedicated to the 73th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was traditionally started in the beginning of this week by social workers of the Complex Social service Centre and activists of local volunteers’ divisions in Leninogorsk municipal district.

The Campaign gathered together battle-front veterans, widows of war veterans, former workers on home front, students and schoolchildren. The younger generation expressed their gratitude to veterans of the Great Patriotic war for their heroic exploits.

According to specialists in social work, it has become a tradition to hold meetings with war veterans, other events and concerts during Victory Day celebrations in Leninogorsk municipal district. Veterans wear their old uniforms and medals and are presented with red carnations in honour of their service. Wreath and flower laying ceremonies are held at monuments to war victims and at common graves. Memorial services are held in churches and mosques across the municipal district.
